Hello! I’m Avinav Sanjel, a medical student at UTMB John Sealy School of Medicine and a proud Ocura mentor. I’m passionate about guiding future healthcare leaders and helping students explore the path to medicine with confidence and purpose.
Any student, club, or school group that wants to spread awareness about ocular migraines and vision care can become a host. No prior experience is needed — we provide all the materials.
A presentation typically lasts 10–20 minutes. Preparing and submitting photos adds another 15 minutes.
No — we provide a ready-to-present slide deck and a simple guide. All you need is enthusiasm to spread awareness.
Submit 1–3 clear photos showing the presentation and audience. Use the caption format “Kathmandu, Nepal — Nightingale School”. High-quality images (Google Drive is fine) are best.
You're essentially answering questions the mentees may have. Expect about 5–10 minutes of communication per week. If you choose to help them for hours with additional activities, you are more than welcome to do so.
No — mentors are only expected to help with medical-related questions regarding school, applications, and opportunities. However, it will be much appreciated if you choose to help them beyond that!
Mentors provide guidance on pre-med courses, college applications, volunteering, research, and balancing academics with everyday life.
No — the mentorship program is completely free for all mentees.
After signing up, you’ll fill out a short form so we can match you with a mentor who aligns with your interests and goals.
